HI I’M Karen

I got my start in the fashion industry working retail at Nordstrom, while I pursued a Fashion Merchandising major at California Polytechnic University. At Nordstrom, I took part in the Future Nordstrom Retail Leaders program, and grew to top 10 sales in the store. During my fashion studies, I also learned about blogs, and started Little Black Shell—fusing my love for fashion and the beach. This blog led me to become a professional luxury fashion & travel blogger, and I traveled the world working with companies like Shopbop, The Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and tourism boards of Japan and Switzerland, for 7 years.

From Blogger to Marketer To Merchandiser

After selling my blog in 2021, I embarked on a career in tech marketing where I helped startups and multinationals scale their brand presence through social media, influencer, and integrated marketing. In 2023, I was called back to fashion via my own e-commerce shop. Through this project, I learned the ins and outs of building and running an online retail store. By applying my retail background, fashion studies, marketing skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and e-commerce experience, I now continue to curate and elevate brands as a fashion digital merchandiser.
